Position Title: Laboratory Scientist II
Direct Report: Laboratory Scientist III
Supervises: Provides direct supervision of Scientist I
Internal Advancement Possibility: Laboratory Scientist III/Team Leader
The laboratory scientist is critical to the overall functioning of the laboratory and for the acquisition of sound scientific results; the analytical process relies on the appropriate preparation of samples. The scientist is empowered to ensure all samples are received in appropriate manner, are correctly processed into the system, and properly prepared for microbial and chemical analyses. The scientist is tasked to provide leadership through mentorship and collaboration. Professional integrity, customer confidentiality, and laboratory confidentiality must be held to the highest caliber.
This position affords opportunity to develop skills and expertise by requiring additional tasks, multi-tasking, and time-management to prepare the employee for more advanced laboratory and management positions.
Employee must be at least 21 years of age.
Education & Experience:
(1) BA/BS and 4-years of paid laboratory experience including at least 3-years relevant laboratory experience; or
(2) MA/MS and 2- years relevant laboratory experience; or
(3) PhD and relevant research experience or 1-year relevant laboratory work experience.
Upon request, must pass a criminal background check prior to and periodically throughout employment.
Must be a licensed driver with no history of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Under the Influence, or other history relative to reckless driving.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must work collaboratively with colleagues and customers.
